I am not sure about the originate of the song also but I check they said it an old folk song of Russian.
Song "Dorogoi dlinnoyu" ("Дорогой длинною", lit. "By the long road"), written by Boris Fomin (1900–1948). There so many version of that song. It is a famous Russian folk song!
Recently the Russian pop singer Vitas covered sucessfully the Russian song "Dorogoi Dlinnoyu" (a.k.a. "Those Were the Days"). I think the Vitas' version of the song is very nice!
